The Questionable History of the Pinnie? (are you kidding?)

As much fun as it is to talk about underwear, either directly or indirectly, we figured this week --- it was time to move on.

(sorry to disappoint you, folks.)  ;)

So this week we're changing gears and focusing on tools you can use in your pursuit of soccer excellence.  Simple, but important tools ... the pinny, and the scrimage vest.  But -- can you guess which one of which has a questionable history?

The "scrimage vest," has a nice, respectable name.  It's a vest. It's for scrimages.  And that kind of has some cool to it.  Nothing but respectable sports history there, folks.

But "pinny"  !?!?  Who actually wants to wear something with a name like "pinny"?

"Hey boys!  Go grab your pinnies and lets get this started!"

That just doesn't sound right.  Does it to you?

Did you know "pinny" actually means:

A sleeveless DRESS, or decorative garmet, or "protective APRON".

And thus the sordid past of the pinny is revealed... it basically comes from old-time, pin-on-protective-apron/dress thing-a-mabobs.  But there's more...

Did you know "pinny" is actually short for...

PINAFORE?

Right now, there is someone somewhere who needs to be smacked for this.

Soccer is, essentially, pure cool-ness in sports form.  And it should never have anything to do with some "pinafore" decorative protective dress/apron/thingy currently called a "pinny".

(sigh)

But what are you going to do?  The item is already entrenched in the soccer establishment.  So of course, we have to sell it ... and this week you can get 10% off of this horrid item (and it's superior partner, the scrimmage vest).

Just go to Pinnies to pick up yours.  And at checkout, plug in the promo code for 10% off your purchase.

PROMO CODE:  EasyScrimmage

Have a great week, folks!
